Fellow forummers, in your opinion, which city (Raleigh or Charlotte) is the best place to live, to work, to play, and for meeting single people? Further, which is the most eclectic?

I would go with Raleigh. More liberal vibe, more bio-tech companies and hospitals around, and closer to the coast.

In my experience, which is limited, there are an unusually large %-age of very good looking ladies in Charlotte. Raleigh is not bad, but Charlotte is IMHO better.

The weather is not all that different, Charlotte has been hit by the banking downturn so you may have a better chance to get a deal on a house. But, there I go assuming you want to own a house - or condo - or whatever.

Would need to know what you do for play to comment on that. I do know there's a good big lake near Charlotte that has the typical lake-based recreational opportunities.

They are not that far apart, you ought to spend a weekend or more in each and see which one has the right 'vibe' for you.

Are you planning to live in the city proper or in the burbs?
