Would you like for D.C. to return back to Maryland or not!!! If it does D.C. would only exist by three buildings (The White House, The United States Capitol, and The Supreme court building), the problem is that Maryland doesn't want the District of Columbia back!!!
No, but DC's residents should be allowed some representation. There are more people in DC than in places like Alaska, Wyoming, Vermont, etc... why shouldn't they be allowed representation?
My exact point its 3/4 of a state but it's missing the United States Congress but It does have electoral college votes...Resident's of D.C. should be able to vote if they have to pay TAXES...(over $20 billion in taxes in D.C.) If they join with Maryland (which we gave them that land for the current site) they can vote, but then I will feel bad for D.C. lol
Nah, there's more to the capital city than the mall. I think that it's fine, but like others said, they should be able to vote.
Also, it's not a state so the fire department doesn't have to follow OSHA requirements. It's the only place in the country where firefighters can have beards! haha
DC residents don't want to retrocede back to Maryland just as much as Maryland would not want them back in. Plus VA would suffer because the city could then impose a toll on every bridge entrance into the city.
But yea it would make 10x more sense to give it to Maryland than Virginia. It used to be in Maryland and takes a small chunk out of the state, while if they gave it to Virginia it would just look plain strange
If it did go to VA (god no) i would at least MD would get Georgetown back
DC should stay DC
But its pretty messed up that its the CAPITAL and yet the people don't have voting rights. At least they have a snazzy license plate because of it
