How is london greater than new york, i just dont see it. NYC's greatness jumps out at you. I think london has got to be thee most overrated of cities in modern history. And new york became the city of the century in the early 1920's

Good point. No, I never have been there (yet). My logic was that the most influential city in the most influential country in the world would simply = win by default. I realize though from a historical standpoint that London was unquestionably it for literally centuries.

You don't have to visit London to read about it and compare its relative strengths and weaknesses in regards to the economy, finance, media, film, advertising, arts, fashion and so on compared to NYC. This is all public information to all who cares to learn about it.

Using traveling experience and inferring London is better than NYC from such is great but not really necessary (nor relevant) for an informed opinion on this type of thread.

This thread's not asking which city you like better upon visiting, but rather, which city do you think comes closest to fulfilling the role of "unofficial capital of the world."

EDIT: And if someone were to hold a gun to my head at gunpoint, forcing me to pick one city that fills the bill, I'd blurt out NYC.

I've been to London and live in nyc. There's no comparison. NYC is so much bigger, the nightlife is leaps above and the city itself has a buzz that london lacks. London is however the runner up in my opnion. I voted for nyc.

But you've never been to London. What do you know of the city in order to claim it's "the most overrated city in modern history"?

Just by people saying its better than new york qualify's it. You can hold both cities in the your palms of your hand and clearly see that london is just not as great as new york. I dont see how people could even say that. New york city is the blueprint for modern cities. U see london trying throw them scrapers up huh. lol

I have a hard time believing any city can match the vibrance of new york , from harlem, to, fordham, grandconcourse, brooklyn nabes, all of manhattan, jamaica ave..........

Did you get "You can hold both cities in the your palms of your hand " from Papoose? Papoose goes by saying he has the city in his palm of his hand. he says it in one of the songs of touch it with Busta Rhymes.
