Phx hands down with the exception of Tucson being slightly cooler in the summer.

Flip side: wages in Tucson tend to be lower than Phx but with comparable (or higher) housing costs.

I think both rule but are attractive for different reasons. Tucson is (much) less crowded than Phoenix. The areas near Oro Valley are just lovely. Tucson has a more liberal flavor and more of a sense of history and community. But overall, I give it to Phoenix particularly for the things you ask about. I lived in Tucson for some time and always thought, like everyone from Tucson does, that Phoenix was a hole and Tucson was better. The reality is that Phoenix offers far more of everything (entertainment of every kind, hiking, proximity to lakes and AZ high country, even women-men too, though) than Tucson does. The major downside to Phoenix is that there are just too many people there.

Much like the SF/LA rivalry: the Los Angeles area did not seem to have as much much to prove hence it being more laid back..............I referring to 25 years ago admittedly.

If you're a Dallas kind of person, you'll like Phoenix better.
If you're a Ft Worth kind of person, you'll like Tucson better.

I spent a few days in Phoenix recently and was again impressed with the cosmopolaton atmosphere of a lot of the place.

The majority of the areas are clean and well manicured, and places like Scottsdale are very high class.....tons of shopping, things to do etc......I have no desire to live there, because I am a small town person, but I love spending the occasional weekend there and feeling "Metroploliton" (cant even spell it right...) then I go back to Safford and become the "country cousin" again.

Another Apples vs Oranges comparison request, D-Towner.

Tucson is a much slower paced Cow-Town with no freeways, fewer people and better weather. Phoenix is mega-times bigger with lots of Los Angeles type freeways, dirty air and lots more to see and do. Wages are probably relative to the cost of living.

Personally, I prefer living in Tucson and taking a trip to Phoenix once or twice a month for entertainment.

What are your thoughts on the radio stations (specifically the Rock stations in both towns)?

Sorry, D-Towner . . . no help since I'm addicted to SIRIUS Satellite Radio.

Just get a good job there and come play in Lake Havasu in the summer.... you will not be sorry... the girls often wear thongs and pasties or will flash for beads. It is a spring break and summer break party spot.
