I find these cities fairly similar, so which one do you think is better?

I will go with Phoenix.

Phoenix is not far from a quick trip to vegas or san diego.

Also, PHX has all four major sports (NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA), which is a major plus for me

San Antonio for me. It is a modern sunbelt city, but it has the history and culture that most sunbelt cities don't have.

I would pick Phoenix I've lived in Texas my whole life and would like to experience something different. The weather would be hard to get used to because Phoenix is so much hotter than San Antonio. After the first summer I would probably want to move to San Antonio.

Other than both being fast growing sunbelt cities and both golf resort meccas, they really don't have much in common. Phoenix is a big suburb while San Antonio is full of history, charm and culture.

I don't liked the heat in Phoenix but that is my only gripe with it.

I really enjoyed the time I spent in Tempe and shopping in scottsdale was nice.

I am going to go with Phoenix
