Chattanooga's skyline isn't bad for its size. Even so, they get a pass for not having the biggest skyline since they've had great success at revitalizing their downtown.
LA's skyline isn't bad, but is like you said small for the cities size.
Niagra Falls is a terrible looking town, and really puts the beautiful falls to shame!
I second Niagara Falls. Are you talking NY or Ontario? Because I'm talking both, especially Ontario! You have the beautiful stone work, the old town, the Falls, and then some 40 floor ugly casino buildings towering all over the place with a permanent "Carnival" mixed in. Ewww, true beauty ruined.
I also think Chatannooga has a picturesque skyline, and considering what they have accomplished downtown, they get a pass for sure!
Albuquerque is not that bad.. We could be like El Paso.. but with a little more,.. or actually alot more recent development Albuquerque has seen over 5 new highrise buildings in the last 8 years.
Albuquerque's Skyline actually lights up at night!
L.A because it is second largest city in US but it has skyline that is put to shame by smaller Chicago, PHILA, SF, HOU, MIA and bigger NY. L.A is truly US's hazard site where all failure comes from and skyline is one of many L.A mishaps
I'll say this about L.A..... it does NOT have a bad skyline. Not even close to "bad".
It just seems smaller than it should be. I honestly would say that L.A.'s skyline is more fitting for (dare I say it) Phoenix.
Worst skyline? Well, there are many ways of looking at the question.
Among the top 10 largest US cities, San Jose has the puniest skyline. It's certainly not representative of a million-person American city.
Among the top 10 largest metro areas, Washington DC is the least impressive height-wise, although it has lots of historic character.
Looking at the top 40 largest US cities, the worst skyline belongs to Mesa, AZ--- there really isn't a skyline in that city, even though it contains more than 460,000 people!
What about the ugliest skyline? Albany has been nominated already in this category, so let's just go with that.
And then there's Phoenix. That city has been mentioned in this thread more than any other. Well, I for one appreciate Phoenix's skyline. I do! But I have to admit that it does kind of look like a skyline of a much smaller city. Still, it in NO WAY qualifies as the "worst skyline" in America. It's not even the smallest among the top 10 cities. I think Phoenix gets picked on a lot, probably due to it's super-fast growth of the past two decades.
My vote for the top 20 largest cities, respective of city size:
Cleveland - kinda spread out for a denser Midwestern city, and not very impressive considering Cleveland was once one of the biggest cities in the country, way back when.
My vote for the top 10 largest cities, respective of city size:
Atlanta - kind of like Cleveland, but even MORE spread out and no real architectural code or cohesiveness at all. Kind of like every block has its own rules or something. I respect its grandeur and size, but not the way it looks.
1great city, San Jose has one of the better and prettiest skyline than most cities its size. It's dense and packed. The buildings are that short. They range from 10 story to almost 30 story. I think it's prettier than Philly's, San Antonio's, San Diego's and many other cities. You need to check out San Jose's skyline by driving highway 87 or 280.
