Niether is a city of dreams. Both are cities that offer alot opprotunity on a diverse scale.

For my personal preference, I dont really like New York and LA is my hometown. So I would much prefer to seek my dreams in LA. At the end, all this thread is about is personal preference. Do you like NY or LA better?
And you can make it in Tulsa, Oklahoma if you wanted to. But being the city of dreams is not about one city being the only place to achieve your dreams, it is about the offerings and where people want to be. NY is a top prospect for those wanting to climb to the top of corporate America and it is a good match against LA if you want to be the next Lady Gaga or Jay-Z. LA can not put up the same fight against NY in the corporate world that NYC can put up against LA in the entertainment world, music especially.

One thing to consider though is that NYC also has more of a crash and burn reputation than LA does.

Default City of Dreams?

Houston, that is if you want your dreams to come true.

To me, LA is a city of broken dreams IF you're an aspiring actor or actress. Many a wide-eyed gal from the midwest go out there with dreams of stardom and fame, and wind up on the cover of a porno film performing all sorts of lewd acts. Many wind up being a waiter at many a mediocre restaurant. A job is a job though...

Not to mention the many that make a pact with the devil and sign their name in blood for a little piece of fame...

I think NYC is more well-rounded in terms of opportunity, but it's a city that can chew you up and spit you out with the quickness.

They are both cities of dreams and it depends on what you are after. New York seems more well rounded though as it has more variety of opportunities that people may want to achieve, from Wall Street to modeling.

NYC if you look at where graduates of the top ranking schools flock to...

NYC/DC/SV/Bos...

LA is the "city of dreams" for illiterate high school dropouts.
