They haven't produced a single finalist in the last 5 years. I've looked through the lists just now, and 80% are from the north.

So that's your "proof" that the North has superior schools, and all of the schools in the South are somehow subpar?

What a joke.

Just one example. It's a pretty good example since this competition is extremely well-known and one of the most highly looked upon contests in the country among high school students. These kids are future nobel prize winners usually.

It's pretty sad how Long Island alone has produced more winners than Texas, Georgia, SC, NC combined. Says a lot.

Could you be any more arrogant?

Someone needs to challenge you, so I won't be putting you on ignore.

I consider it a public service to rest of the forum to challenge your "superior intellect" that you got in your "superior" school on Long Island.

The fact that you are a teacher just makes it that much more of a public service.

Apparently the Intel Talent Search is the only gauge of a successfull state education program. National Merit Scholars, Oxford Scholars, National Honor Society, AP National Scholars, National Society of High School Scholars, Quill and Scroll, Beta Club, Who's Who, Mu Alpha Theta, etc. - these must not count.

Apparently only the same 3 people challenge me on the board and it's getting pretty old. The others don't seem to care what I say, or they agree, otherwise they would be inclined to respond.

And yes, my school district is very good. 3 Intel winners in the last 2 years is pretty darn good. I grew up not knowing how to talk and was special needs. I don't think I would be getting my Masters degree, making as much as I do, and buying a house on Long Island by the age of 24 if it weren't for the great schools I came from (and my parents of course). I even managed to get on 2 prestigious lists that DeaconJ just posted.

The North. It has it all plus some of the best weather. Yeah, I do not consider Florida, or most of Florida, a southern state.
