I never said it wasn't real. It just lacks density, urbanity, culture, character, and a skyline, compared to other cities. Either way, it is not in my Top 10.

Plenty of people love living there, and that's fine. But it wasn't for me.

I also hate that. Like it's some sort of different thing. It's a city but different from a particular city you prefer.

I totally agree, Joe.

To just dismiss anyplace as not being 'real' is indeed ridiculous. Especially when it comes to a major Metro area like Phoenix, with over 4 million residents.

Just about everything you could ever want or need is available there, along with some very unique local offerings. The closed-minded remarks here never cease to amaze me.

Phoenix may have a small skyline, but I personally like it quite a bit.

It also seems to have culture and character, at least in some parts.

This coming from someone who has a strong dislike of AZ (the people, not the geography).

Yes you did...you said "And Phoenix didn't get mentioned because I don't consider it a city, just a scattering of cheap suburbs on the Sonoran Desert floor."

You don't consider it a city. It IS a city, whether you like Phoenix or not. It's not my favorite city either, but it definitely has a unique culture and some cool attractions and is fairly densely populated. I love the residential architecture as well. It doesn't take personal approval by me or you or anyone to be designated as a city.

Glad to see the often-overlooked Winston-Salem on someone's list! It's a pretty great city that is rarely mentioned on here.
