Vox populi vox dei - yes in terms of #s of people, those cities are the most important.

Houston, Atlanta and Dallas all more important than San Francisco and Boston?

My list would go as:

1. NYC
2. DC
3. LA
4. Chicago
5. San Francisco/Boston

..as I think that the only question would be about "No. 5"; the first 4 are pretty much a given (although I would go NYC, LA, DC, Chicago).

After thinking about it, and considering all the possibilities for No. 5 (Boston, SF, Houston, Philly, etc), I decided that SF would be my No.5 choice, if you include the entire Bay area (SF, Oakland, Berkeley, Palo Alto, San Jose, etc.)

hrrmm...

I mostly agree, but I will propose this...

NYC and DC are both 1/2 no question about it in importance...

I will say SF-Oak-SJ/Greater Boston/Chicagoland/LA are equally as important but for different areas...I am referring to the metro areas not the city limits.

After that there is a bit of a drop off then you start seeing the Houston/Philly/ATL/*.* category

I'd put both SF bay area, and LA metro area above Chicago and Boston metros.
