12-month growing season. Citrus in the winter, Hass avocados, chives and herbs. I garden and cook, so that's enough to recommend the "uninspiring" LA weather for me.

Good point. Also, because of LA's climate it is possible to do barbeques and grilling out in your yard pretty much year round. That's something that folks in NY can't do. Recently I've been noticing small details like this. I'm not saying LA climate is terrible. On the contrary, there are many days where it is pleasant enough to take walks outside unlike Vegas or Phoenix. On the whole, LA climate and weather is still better than some areas of the country.

You really need to travel to some areas of the country... There are so many places that have less mild sunny days in a year than you'll probably have in the next two weeks.. And I'm not just referring to cold, gray cities up north but even Florida where folks hide in the A/C 24/7 dodge the heat and humidity most of the year..I'll take your coastal marine layer as the main negative in a heartbeat..

I have been since MAY. I want to cook in my OVEN, for hours without turning on AC. I want to make a turkey, pies, cookies, hot comfort food. This is what you CAN do in NYC in the Fall and the Winter.

Well, in my area where I live, we are going to have some windy weather tomorrow in the high 60s. That is pretty good weather. Although by next week we are expected to be at a high of 82F that is still good enough to walk outside if it is not humid. Meanwhile in NY due to rain, that could create problems for tomorrow's World Series game. In LA I don't even remember a single Dodger's game being canceled to erratic weather. I don't mind the rain but in cases like this I have to say LA is better. And let's also not forget that the rain creates very wet roads which can cause car accidents. LA residents won't have to worry about that This is one of the times where being in LA is great. Not to take anything away from NYC but what can I say: a high of 66F sounds good to me.

Read this the other night and it gave me a good laugh. It's actually pretty accurate though....

California has 4 seasons: Flood, Fire, Earthquake, and riot.

In all seriouness though my vote goes to LA. I will take any city in California over New York. What can I say I like wearing flip flops during December.

I'm looking at the results of this poll and its become a landslide. There is more than a 2 to 1 ratio in favor of LA. Its no wonder a lot of people prefer to live in warmer climates. I'm not a big fan of hot weather but I can at least tolerate it. Yeah, I guess being able to swim in a pool even in December is a good thing

New York City for Summer and Late-Spring (I love heat & humidity).

Los Angeles for the rest of the year.
