Wow...

Isn't it incredible that over FIVE MILLION MORE PEOPLE choose to live in Chicagoland than the Bay Area, even with the weather discrepancy?

Makes you think.

it's cheaper and centrally located to a larger region, that probably has alot to do with it..
easier and cheaper to relocate to for millions more people.

so considering how isolated and expensive the Bar Area is to the vast population of the US, the population figures are impressive

Your argument is void, look at Los Angeles.

Another thing I observed when I lived in Chicago is that when it snows, the snow stays and turns into that nasty black snow and doesn't melt away quickly unlike in NYC.

thanks though =)
I've actually seen more of that black slush in nyc-dc stretch, and the opposite in chicago for most of the winter, only the beginning and the end are like that, otherwise everything is like an ice box and white, even the roads. I still hated the winters there though, but it looked pretty most of the time. Also buffalo, wisconsin, get it much worse for the great lakes region. That lower west tip of lake michigan also usually keeps away lake effect snow like cleveland, erie, buffalo, detroit.

That weather forecast isn't really that bad. temps still in the teens and twenties, not much of an issue. it gets much worse. that is just a typical cold front.

where I'm at it was 23 this morning when I got up, felt like 16 according to weather.com and my car was frozen over. sf doesn't erally get that cold, but north bay does and i'm not even that north on the sonoma/marin border. didn't east bay get some snow a few days ago?

LA's slightly better with San Diego/Tijuana and Las Vegas. If you go further out a bit, there's also Phoenix and the Bay Area itself (and the Bay Area gets LA, too, but little else).
