I remember this thread. Never expanded on this. I do not like potato salad, Cole slaw, okra, devil eggs, chitlins, yellow rice, ox tails, mostly fried anything, I am tired of watermelon. Do not eat pigs feet, or any other arms or feet of animals. Do not eat dumplings either. No squash or turnips or anything like that. I tolerate black eye peas. Won't put to much on my plate.

I say no to any cobblers. I say yes to banana pudding, red velvet cake and sweet potato pie. Put one of those three in my hungry face. Dear God in heaven.

Oh yeah, I HATE potatoe salad. I'm with you on the cobblers as well. I don't get the obsession with watermelon in the south either. People look at you like you crazy when you object to it lol

Everytime I tell someone no; they still cut me a slice and give it to me. "Boy quit being shy and get this watermelon!".

I don't like greens, boiled okra, hominy, any part of an animal that isn't plain old muscle (no feet, skins, innards, brains, etc). Moon pies I can take or leave.

Bring me some sweet tea, blacked eyed peas, corn bread, mashed sweet potatoes, fried green maters, fried okra, fresh green beans, fresh sliced tomatoes, bbq and coleslaw or fried chicken, with some pecan pie or watermelon for desert.
For breakfast some grits, biscuits with sausage gravy, scrambled eggs, and maybe a side of country ham or southern style hash browns.
I do sometimes wonder about that.

I also just remembered that I LOVE a good buttermilk biscuit, particularly with scrambled eggs. But I'm not sure if biscuits are exclusively a southern thing or not. Regardless, I could eat a dozen biscuits in one sitting. Which is why I try to avoid them.

The gravy on biscuit thing I hate as well. Do not like the wet bread.

A lot of these things are an acquired taste. If you shied away from it as a kid, then you don't get a chance for it to grow on you. Fortunately for me, I came up in a house where I wasn't allowed to say no to anything. I ate whatever I was told to eat. Because of this, I'm always looking at picky eaters strange.

It's understandable if someone genuinely doesn't like the taste of something, but those folks who think they're above eating certain parts of an animal get the side-eye from me. Like I've heard someone say before, I don't eat for cute, I eat for sustenance.

I actually eat very little meat, simply because 95% of it is disgusting to me. I've never even taken a bite of steak without having to spit it back out because I nearly vomited. I think it's the texture and inconsistency. I hate biting into good meat one second, and the next bite is just fat and tendons. In fact just typing that made me want to puke. Unfortunately, the kinds of meat I do like are some of the worst I could be eating: Hamburgers, hot dogs, extremely processed chicken, etc. Basically meat that's been ground up so finely that it's mostly the same every time I take a bite. I do love eggs though, which I suppose is considered meat.
