Anyone can go to google and type in "slums in blank city". Pics will come up for the dirtiest areas
When I think Tampa...........
I think trailer parks, people with missing teeth, nascar, hunting, confederate flags, rednecks and being infested by snowbirds that drive 50 on the interstate. NO THANKS TAMPA!!!
The ONLY part of Florida that is livable is Miami. The rest of Florida sucks

Another ignorant post about Tampa. Hunting? There is nowhere in or around Tampa for milies and miles for hunting. Snowbirds driving 50? Maybe south Florida, not in Tampa. If anyone can find images on Google, why dont you back up your post with some. Something besides the huge confederate flag. Thats easy to find, and its 20 miles outside of Tampa anyways.
I really hope Chicago gets the 2016 Olympics, and not just because Chicago is an hour away from Milwaukee. However, if for some reason Chicago doesn't get picked, I voted for Houston as my second choice, mainly because I think they already have the infrastructure to pull it off.
Just about any city built in the early 20th century, especially cities that were built on manufacturing, will have blighted areas. It's not a Philadelphia thing. It's a city thing.
Cities developed in the late 19th century are probably going to have some blight. That's just a fact. This is for a few reasons:
1) homes are older, therefore they cost more to maintain, and the owners cannot always afford to maintain them. Infrastructure is also usually older.
2) most industrial cities experienced white flight in the 1950s until the 1990s.
3) These cities generally are very dense, so you see more blight in a smaller area also.
Cities with blight are not bad cities. They just have issues. But most have vibrant neighborhoods and good places to live. They are not better or worse than sunbelt cities that have developed a lot since the 1950s.

Everyone is aware that Philly has bad areas. Also, everyone is aware that Tampa has bad areas.
What is making me angry is that you are trying to put Tampa on the level of Philly. Tampa is a small to medium sized city. The Philly metro is double the size of Tampa's.
If you want to put a vote in for the state of Florida to host the Olympics then it should be Miami, not Tampa.

This was the houses of rich black people in the 1950s. These houses can't be demolished because the neighborhood that the houses are in is a landmark.
