Philadelphia 50 M sq ft.
Boston 50 M sq ft.
Population
NYC- 8 M
Chicago-2.8 M
Philadelphia- 1.5 M
I have no problem with you proclaiming that Chicago is a notch or two above Bost-Philadelphia in prominence but what I do have a problem with is you then doing the same thing by comparing Chicago with NYC.

No need to have a problem. I only said it would be better to compare Chicago to NYC.
Most of times it goes:
1) NYC
2) LA or Chicago
3) Chicago or LA
4) Don't know or care...but I know that NYC and CHI compares better than Philly IMO

Dont let your biasness or delusions of grandeur supercede reality.
The sheer numbers dictate otherwise.
Fortune 500 Companies
NYC- 43
Chicago - 12
Philadlephia- 8
NYC has 6x the amount of skycrapers of Chicago whereas Chicago has 3x the amount of skyscrapers that Philaldephia has. Manhattan has 4x the amount of office space Chicago has, Chicago has 2x the amount of office space of Philadelphia.NYC has 3x the amount of people Chicago has, Chicago has 1.8x the amount of people of Philly.
You may not want to believe it but Philadelphia more closely resembles Chicago than Chicago resembles NYC.

^^ Yup. New York is on its own level in this country. The only city that can even be mentioned with it would be Los Angeles, and I'd consider that to be a little bit of a stretch...however that won't stop some of the blind boosterism on this site which puts cities on giant pedestals.

Thanks for all your input guys, but when I said I was looking for the miniature version of New York City, I meant it in terms of lifestyle, city format and vibrancy, not really in terms of population or how many fortune 500 companies there are.

Because CDW keeps insisting Chicago is more on NYC's level, not Boston or Philly's level. Which is very very debatable.
@ 25th hour, I think you'll find parts of each of these cities which look like a mini New York.

Umm, no. Regarding urbanity and big city feel, you went the complete opposite direction on that one, lol. LA is somewhere on the top ten list of US cities when talking about urban-feel similar to NYC, but way beneath cities like Chi, SF, Boston, and Philly.

I was meaning in regards to size and power, not urbanity.

I lived in Chicago for 27 years. I have been to the other two and Chicago wins hands down. I have been to New York also and I still think that in the summer downtown Chicago has more events for all age groups than in downtown Manhattan.
