First, CenCal coastal areas (SLO County especially).

Second, Northern California coastal areas.

That's it.

Northern baby!
I think a lot of people have the areas messed up..Bay Area is not Central California even if it looks like it on a map,and I've always considered Santa Cruz/Monterey NorCal even though a lot of people disagree but I do love the whole state.
This is what I consider Northern California personally..

Maybe even a little below Carmel as well.

Mendocino/Red Bluff and all points north I would call "Far Nothern California" or "Upstate."

NorCal is the Bay area and the Sacto area I feel like... As Golden-mind-State says, down to around Carmel.

They're about equal.

I prefer living in Southern California. It's certainly a case-by-case basis as I find San Diego, OC very uninteresting. I like LA all the way up to Santa Barbara.

Northern California has Napa, SF, Pebble Beach (OK- its central but nearby), Lake Tahoe.

SoCal is more interesting to me than CenCal and NorCal.
