I live in FL and have lots of family in MI and I like both states. What do you think. MI vs FL based on livability, beauty, employment, things to do ect...

Michigan and Employment don't go together unless you're in the Metro Detroit area and travel the four hours to Toronto, Canada for work or live on the lower west side of the state and travel "one-two hours" to Chicago for work.
Michigan does have all kinds of beauty in all the corners of the state and stuff to do all year around (skiing, Fishing-winter and summer, snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, hunting, boating, concerts in the major cities, festivals, cider mills, fashion for all the 4 seasons, sledding, tobogganing, making snowman or snow angels, having snowball fights, building igloos, ect...)

I prefer MI for many reasons, particularly scenery which absolutely trumps Florida.

I choose Florida (and I grew up in Michigan for 22 years). It all depends on the person. For me, the six month winters and cloudiness grew very, very tiring. If you have seasonal affective disorder, Florida is close to Paradise.
Also, the beautiful beaches and lack of state income tax don't hurt. However, I do like both Florida and Michigan more than most states in the US.

Florida by a landslide
Michigan only has Detroit, which is one big ghetto
Florida has miami, which is a great city. Even Tampa and Orlando are livable, ok cities.

Wow. Absolutely false.
You should go to this thread and check out some of the FIFTY pages of pictures from Michigan, most of which were taken hundreds of miles from Detroit.

That statement meant that Michigan only has one big city, which is Detroit
And detroit is a ghetto.
* I am only interested in living in urban area (big cities)

I get what you're saying, but the thread is Michigan vs Florida, not Detroit vs Miami. You probably should avoid "state vs state" threads if you can't add any more insight than "Miami is better than Detroit, therefore Florida is better than Michigan."

It's a toss up. I was born in FL and have spent 7 years in MI, and live here now. Both states have abundant natural beauty. The weatherman presented a stat a week ago that it's been 7 1/2 months since we've had a day over 80 degrees. Winters are too harsh and too long up here.
Jobs are hard to come by up here, but when you do land one it tends to pay better and you'll typically be treated better than in FL. There's more opportunity in FL, so many retirees that don't work on thier house themselves, so FL seems a better place to have a small home improvement biz.
