Many of the middle states are boring. North Dakota, even South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Indiana, Illinois (obviously except Chicago, but the rest of the state is boring), Minnesota... Very boring, and harsh weather in winter to boot.
It depends on what you define boring. Speaking of Missouri, I would hardly count that as boring. Having lived in the Ozarks where it's absolutely GORGEOUS, great for hiking, floating down their gazillion rivers are boating on one of their many big lakes...yeah, I would call that boring Maybe if you're not an outdoorsy person who appreciates natural resources, you could call it boring.

Well, boring means different things to different people, apparently. I find no pleasure in looking at big holes in the ground or big slabs of rock. Even though I am NOT a city girl, I consider things like opportunities to listen to good music, or going to a fantastic restaurant, or a casino or something like that UNBORING. But then, as one of the other posters pointed out, a lot of what you like depends on whether you are an outdoor person or not. I'm not. So I have no interest in things like you posted pictures of. They are to me, indeed quite boring.
The exception being, I would say a nice BBQ cook out at the creek with lots of beer and cool water and hanging out on your inner tube on a really hot day. That's pretty fun for being outside.

I think Utah's very interesting from a cultural standpoint. How many other places are dominated by mormons?
My vote would be Delaware. I mean, what's it known for? It's flat and culturally it's not any different from the rest of the region. So I'll pass on Delaware.
It's different for everyone, I think. For me it's Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas... though even they have something interesting.. all states do to some extent. Look a little deeper into North Dakota, and you'll find all sorts of fascinating things.
I like to believe I can keep myself occupied almost anywhere. That said, entertainment preferences depend on the individual. I prefer the man-made entertainment of the city to the outdoors; even though I do enjoy the outdoors. That said, I'd prefer to live in a city like Detroit over living in rural Colorado regardless of the natural beauty (and CO is STUNNING). I'm sure many will find my perspective incredibly backwards ("but Detroit has so much crime!", etc) but that's what I prefer.
That's certainly not to say that I find Colorado boring (it's NOT boring), but I could keep myself happier in a more heavily populated area than I could in even the most diverse natural landscape. While there are no places in the U.S. that I would call boring as it's all relative to individual tastes and lets face it, the company you're with; some are more exciting to me than others.
Alaska, Idaho, Iowa, Nebraska, New Mexico, West Virginia, Vermont, South Carolina, Kansas, TheDakotas, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Oklahoma. I know someone will be spiteful or whatever but I'll go ahead and put down Snorgia outside of the Hometown. The states in bold really don't stand a chance in receiving my interest because I'm not the outdoorsy type (I like walking in cities but I'm not the soft urbanite type though because I do like to go camping from time to time).
