Yes, a densely populated office park with subpar shopping, subpar dining, subpar entertainment compared to Downtown San Francisco.

The nearest Louis Vuitton and Bloomingdale's are in Chevy EFFing' Chase.

Blaspheme to any REAL CITY that a suburb trumps it as an upscale shopping destination.

That's embarrassing.

No self respecting New Yorker, Chicagoan or San Franciscan would ever set foot in a damn burb to shop.
I loved LA but for a city that size 'fast paced' wasn't exactly a word I'd used to describe it. Boston, Philly and DC all seem like fairly large cities with a bustling downtown, plenty of commuters and office workers, and the pace of life you would expect of a bigger city. LA's downtown feels more relaxed, in a good way, although since it's so spread out it's hard to say because Downtown LA isn't even where most people go to work.

Yet for some odd reason the majority of Americans agree DC, Philly and Boston have better downtowns and more vibrancy in their downtowns than LA.

SF, Seattle, Portland and Oakland are MOCKED and LAUGHED at in bos-wash. The complete opposite.

An office park? DT DC is on a grid and is filled with canyons upon canyons of mid rise office building that feature underground parking. DT SF is small and does not boast the daytime population, transportation or vibrancy of DT DC.

Inferiority complex much?
DC is arguably the most important city on the planet so your point is moot. The Midwest is international? That's the joke of the year!

Seriously, those cities are afterthoughts on the east coast.

Just as the east coast is an after thought out here.

This aspect I cant agree with relative to SF. Especially at the core. DC is vibrant and also has the larger footprint. Density even during Daytme is likely very close and in the evening the density and vibrance in SF is on pace with any except NYC and to me above still ahead of DC. DC is making great strides and gets better every year and is by no means not vibrant or dense.

But also agree that it is false to call DT DC just a business park and also the shopping is coming to DC, seems like in a big way

Managing to be 51st in donor state status out of 50 states is pretty impressive.

It's very impressive! Decisions made in DC impact whether we all live or die. Versus if the new Iphone will be a 4s or 5.
