Some (or one person) on city-data think Chicago architecture is horrible.

True, but the Trinity Church alone is in my opinion worth a hundred contemporary skyscrapers, especially since most of the look the same as another building in another city. I am not only boasting New York here, I really appreciate Boston, Philly and even Newark for some great historical architecture.

LOL, is something wrong with your eyes? I've only posted one photograph of "new" architecture. Those are all old buildings.

Anyway, no offense but these NY blow all these Chicago photos out of the water.

I agree, and if you read my earlier post, I said New York City had better architecture than Chicago and that the only two cities I thought had better architecture than NYC were Paris and London.

However, there were plenty of people dissing Chicago's architecture which is very impressive. One poster said "the Loop is ok, but the rest of Chicago looks like Detroit". As I've been saying all day long here, so many people think greatness is a zero-sum game, and nothing could be further from the truth.

Sukwoo, I do but not because of the buildings downtown. I just can't stand cookie cutter condos and sinding-clad houses. I simply prefer the old New York brownstone row-houses. Chicago outside of the loop is not much to look at.

chicago has some nice houses in lincoln park, the gold coast and some cool buildings in wicker park/bucktown, but it's still not as nice as nyc
