I was thinking the same thing. But same could be said for NY, i've seen so many threads, like "which city has the biggest downtown", and NYC would always be one of the choices, and OBVIOUSLY, NYC would be the awnser, so I think everybody does it. And all the NYC vs LA post, NYC always wins those, all 5million of them.

K.O.N.Y ..meet the kettle

someone could make a zillion threads asking which state has the least humidity/best weather...what state has the most diverse outdoors activities...which state has the most scenery...which state has the most celebs...which state has the most people of vietnamese, chinese, filipino, mexican, salvadorean,ar menian, etc etc

in other words..to K.O.N.Y any time new york doesn't win , theres a hidden motive behind a thread

Upstate NY, although economically depressed is the BEST part of NY State. Did some quality rockclimbing in the Gunks last summer. The Finger Lakes are really beautiful as well. California wins in the city department and the weather department so that is the deciding factor for me

You mean over NYC, which by itself, might beat the California cities. Major cities in Upstate aren't that bad either.

Also, while Upstate's economy has seen better days, it isn't as bad as people think.

^^^NYC by itself would beat ANY US city one on one, but if you compare NY cities down a list, to Cali cities down the list, Cali cities would win, with the exception of NYC. Especially when Cali has 2 world cities(SF and LA) and 2 cities with over a million people(LA and SD) and San Jose on the way with 900,000. Then you got Oakland, Sacramento, Long Beach, and other medium to LARGE cities in CA. CA can go toe to toe with ANY state in terms of multiple cities, the only other state that I can think of that can go toe to toe with CA is probably Texas, Because of the big 4(Hou2.2million, Dal1.2million, SA 1.3million, Austin750,000). But if we do INDIVIDUAL cities, NYC would beat EVERYONE, hands down.

Yeah I basically agree. New York state cities have been devastated by actions (like so called free trade) of the Federal government much like some of the Midwestern cities. Even cities in the eastern part of the state like Schenectady, Troy and Newburgh have been hit hard.

LOL. Seriously. NYers hate on California way too much...or any other city/state that gets more love than them. It gets a little bit ridiculous.

It's really pretty split.. there's a group of people that would love to go to Cali, and there's the group that sees itself in a competition with Cali and wants to crush it... I belong to the former.

I fully agree. The only reason I have had ANYTHING at all negative to say about their region is that I have experienced an excessive amount of this over the years.
