I wouldn't say that Texas is "owning" NY on this poll.
As for density, many times it could mean that it is a community that is more walkable or that things are in closer proximity to where you live. That in turn means that less energy is used, for example. Now, everyone isn't big on being that close to people. So, I can see where high density could be a problem for some folks as well.
Yeah. I personally like a higher dense city since I'm single and young. It's more vibrant, energetic, and less dependent on cars. Houstonians inside the loop wouldn't mind higher density IF they can improve the mass transit system. If they did, you think they would care about higher density? Well people around my age. This is what Houston's inner loop is currently doing. The thing about Houston is that you have an alternative. If you do not want that type of density, go further away from the loop. But I agree with Finger Lakes. You can't compare the density of Sunbelt cities to Northeastern and Midwestern cities. Nothing in Texas compares to what you get in the Northeast.

Yeah....If you want sprawl here, you just move to the suburbs and the newer ones at that.
This is one of the closest state polls i've ever seen on C-D. Maybe the 2 states are tied. I know one thing for sure, they're tied at being the most prideful.
Houston couldn't handle that density without more public transportation. Anyways - who cares? I live in a part of Houston with about 7,000 per sq mile (granted, it's a small area), and I don't WANT anymore density. I think most people in Houston feel the same way. If you had ever driven here, you would understand.
I am moving out of Houston to a MUCH denser place, and that is probably the one thing I am dreading.

Where did I say it was too dense? I said it couldn't handle any more density, which I think anyone familiar with the area would agree with. I chose this area because, in my opinion, it's the most beautiful place in Houston and I didn't want to live in the suburbs. Anything else?
communities are overated...why would you want someone all up in your business? I prefer driving...no thanks on all that bus/train stuff. Thats why I love L.A. You can be blatantly flashy and no one bats an eye, everyone just lives in their own world and leaves u alone

Huh? Actually, I think the fact that things are more compact in NYC would make it too busy to be concerned with anyone else.
