New Mexico is actually the true Sunshine state, Florida took it from us.
and while Florida may get warmer temps its almost always sunny here in the winter which makes for nice daytime winter weather. I even got sunburnt this past January.
and since I live in ABQ it seems like we get way more than 75% sun, most of the time Im praying for a rainy day.

I would say Arizona. I found a list of US cities with the most % sunshine per day. Cities from southern AZ to central AZ to northern AZ are on this list, basically encompassing the whole state.
City% Sunshine
Yuma, Arizona90
Redding California88
Phoenix, Arizona85
Tucson, Arizona85
Las Vegas, Nevada85
El Paso, Texas84
Fresno, California79
Reno, Nevada79
Flagstaff, Arizona78
Sacramento, California78
Pueblo, Colorado76
Key West, Florida76
Albuquerque, New Mexico76

Yeah, well FL is on the list, Key West only. CA and NV have a strong showing on that list after AZ. NM makes an appearance too. But by far, that list looks like AZ>NV=CA>FL=NM.

Key West and ABQ average the same sunshine percentage, even in winter. But, if youre gonna have the sun, might as well be able to be on the beach and swimming enjoying the ocean breeze and swaying palms.

^^When I've swam in Florida in the summer, it was like a jacuzzi. The water is definitely not refreshing if it's 90 degrees and it's 95 in the air. Give me a simple cold shower instead.

Colorado.
It's sunny all the time, but not baking sun, and not humid as hell.

When I googled sunniest cities in the U.S., Las Vegas and Phoenix were tied at 300 days each. Yuma, Arizona gets 20 more days of sunshine at 320. Considered to be the sunniest city in the country.
Many a time I've been in sunny San Diego and the coastal fog didn't disappear until noon. Coastal fog? Clouds are clouds are clouds.
I've lived in Florida and lot of sunny, albeit partly cloudy skies. Here in the desert SW is where you can expect day after day of clear, sunny skies, not a cloud in sight.
So what is sunny? Abscence of clouds? Or clear blue sky sunny?
