Technically, if you use the Mississippi river to divide the country to western and eastern halves then New Orleans will be in the West. IMHO however, I see New Orleans and Louisana as a whole far more connected to the Southeast than the West.

I don't really see a large Latin influx in New Orleans as I do with cities like Phoenix, El Paso, Santa Fe. So it's Southern.

It's a mixture of Creole and Southern cultures. There's nothing even remotely southwestern about it.

I agree. To be southwestern, you need latin influence. That doesn't start until at least Houston and that is pushing it. San Antionio is the real gateway to the southwest in my opinion. |

But the architecture isn't near as latin influenced as El Paso, Phoenix, etc. |

The majority of New Orleans and its metro is on the eastern side of the Mississippi River  .
New Orleans is more so southern by location than by culture but, no part of Lousiana or southeast texas should even bec onsidered southwest. |
