Miami's largest suburb is Hialeah at about 225,000.
Raleigh's largest suburb is Cary at about 140,000 people...make that 140,001, I mean 140,002....oops, 140,003. Well, you get the point. :-)
Cherry Hill township might be the biggest near you, not sure. I looked up King of Prussia for this thread and was suprised it has such a small population --- I always thought it was larger (cool name BTW). Anyway, no one has yet found a suburban town or city with a larger population than Hempstead, 700K+.
KOP is relatively small in land area as are almost all towns and townships in the Burbs. KOP is part of Montgomery County population of about 1 million. But made of many small towns, boroughs, and townships. It also borders Norristown and the main line - both very densly populated suburban areas (Norristown almost a small city) but none are more than a few miles square. The are is very populated just no single town is large enough to have a significant population
KOP is only 8.5 sq miles
Norristown is only 3.5 sq miles but a density of 9,000 ppsm
None in this area will be large (population wise) - the areas of the municipalities are just very small but they all just flow together
Lower Merion Township (20 sq miles) has a population of 60,000 which is part of the main line
Honestly a better comparator may be counties here; for example suburban Delaware County PA (Between Philly and Wilmington DE) has a population of 551,000 in 191 sq miles versus Hempstead NY 191 sq miles and a population of 756,000.
Well everyone calls it Orlando Metro but technically its Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford Metro because Orlando is the Core with Kissimmee at the South end and Sanford at the North end.
Orlando: 230,519
Kissimmee: 60,894
but if you don't include Kissimmee the largest would be Altamonte Springs with: 41,200
Jeez, I am embarrassed to say I never even heard of Greece, NY. But it looks pretty nice Town of Greece, NY .
I do hope that residents of Greece, NY (called Greeks?) do not have the extreme budget crisis of the real Greece! I feel very sorry for what those poor people are going through.
The twelve largest Chicago suburbs by population which are Illinois suburbs(In the Chicago Metropolitan Area there are also suburbs located in Indiana and Wisconsin) are: Aurora 175,000; Naperville 145,000; Joliet 145,000; Elgin 107,000; Waukegan 86,000; Cicero 85,000; Arlington Heights 78,000; Schaumburg 74,000; Evanston 73,000; Bollingbrook 70,000; Skokie 69,000; Palatine 67,000. These population figures are from the 2000 US Census... i live in schaumburg, but during the day, visually and traffic wise id say the population seems like wayy more than the sign posted stating 75,000 i see everyday coming home. i believe it, since im geographically located somewhat central-ish amongst commuters goin west to east on i-90 east to work in (773)/(312) chi, or those travelling from (847)/(224) north lake county/nw cook county suburbs south on i-355/IL-53 to west burbs of dupage county or south/ sw burbs of will and southern dupage. im fairly certain someone living in the south /sw suburbs also might also feel the same just based upon the commercial truck traffic cosistently inbound and outbound on i-55 or on i-294 south roughly from i-290 through to i-80. i-80 in itself visuallly is an extremely busy corridor and therfore so are the south side communities it serves like joliet/bolingbrook or in nw indiana... and to further underscore the above, where im livin, schaumburg is in between with elgin to the immeadiate west, and arlington heights just east, palatine to the north, and aurora/naperville to the south... pls dont misunderstand when im talking about relative locations of these suburbs. theyre not as close to each other as one might believe. in terms of square mileage i didnt look all of them up, but i know elgin is 16 sq mi, schaumburg 18, palatine 35, arlington hgts 16 sq mi etc. but theres alot of other numerous smaller communities interspersed throughout as well...id only imagine how many more large communities in the future may evolve or expand... easy when its all flatland surrounding the area.
If we're talking about suburbs that have much unincorporated area, it'd probably be Marietta, which has a population, including unincorporated Marietta, of about 250,000-300,000. The city limit population, however, is 67,021.
This is wrong! Sandy Springs is actually the largest suburb of Atlanta with a population close to 100,000, which is the sixth largest city in the state (Sandy Springs Hospitality and Tourism).
