It still happened. It was probably worse then (most cities had a higher crime rate in 1990). Didn't you hear of the countless stories of guys lurring kids into their vans and kidnapping them? (and probably far worse things).

I can tell you NYC was much different in 1990. Crime was way higher and it was a lot dirtier then. Night and day difference between 1990 and 2010.

I love how these days people forget their cell phones at home - and they act like they're going to DIE.

Full out panic. I was talking with my friend the other day though, and we can't really remember how we lived before cell phones. You just had to meet people when you planned on meeting. If someone isn't home when you call - well then you're just screwed and should try again later.

I'm not a proponent of all this doom and gloom talk concerning this current age. In the 90s was our president another race other than a white male? No. Now? Yes. What about supreme court justices? A handful of blacks then, mostly white though. Now? White males, white female, hispanic female, black males, etc. Now, it is actually okay to be an openly gay politician. Now, some may point this out as a negative, which I can understand. However, this points that America is becoming more open to accepting people as people. Yes, we have our struggles, the economy is bad, schools are messed up, etc. But, haven't we always had these problems, only now they must be addressed? I think, if anything this era has illustrated that Americans now demand more and refuse to be brainwashed with the "American Dream."

10 years later will always be more progressive than the 10 years prior....yea we might still be on a stormy course but never the less....always will the keyword of evolution (America, the world, the universe) be "progress"....
