I will simply repost some pictures taken: http://www.city-data.com/forum/8532038-post21.html

I think one could argue that both cities are large enough to find any type of cuisine you want. I know Seattle even has moroccan and Afghani, a couple Ethiopian places, TONS of Japanese, Chinese, and SE Asian places, classic European, Mexican, good ol' American, and let's not forget ... beer, and wine. Wonderful in both.

I would give LA the weather if it wasn't for one thing - SMOG! I seriously couldn't breathe when I visited.

Cost of living ... Seattle.

Seattle is more outdoorsy, and has tons of places to raise a family. Excellent public transportation, and natural beauty (how can you argue against the pictures?) ... yeah.

All those points one could argue against it ... and that's fine. But Seattle in my experience is less in-your-face, fake, and crazy-driver riddled. And it just doesn't feel like my kinda town. Too big. Too brash. Too glitz.

LA all the way. I don't see any category that Seattle is on the same level as LA on...Maybe cost of living, but that's all I can think of.

My vote goes to Los Angeles because I think the only major drawback of LA is public transportation and Seattle is not that great in that matter either. At least LA tried several subway lines long ago though they are not very successful. Seattle is like a subset of LA unless you are in the big IT companies such as Microsoft and Amazon. LA is also close to other interesting areas such as the orange county which in my opion is one symbol of the American dream.

I can't really decide, I like both. Both have there plus and minus. LA has the better weather, but Seattle is more cosmopolitan. Seattle has less smog and less traffic, but still pretty brutal. LA has great beaches and is close to San Diego and Vegas for weekend trips.
