I can't stand desert heat. I remember being in the Barstow area a couple of years ago and could not wait to get back to Houston where it was cooler! That desert heat is way more oppressive than what we have here, at least in my opinion. If I were going to live anywhere West it would have to be coastal California but then again that's one of the reasons why it's so expensive to live there. You can't win weather-wise in the US. Everywhere has a down side so you acclimate or suffer.

Anyone who would prefer humid heat over dry heat is crazy, in my personal opinion. 100 degree dry heat actually isn't that bad compared to 100 degree humid heat, which makes you sweat like crazy and feel like you're dying.

I hate heat and hot weather of any kind, but if I was forced to live with either of the 2 choices, it would be dry heat.

Humidity just makes you feel disgusting.
Dry heat is more bearable even if the temperature is 8 degrees higher than a hot 90% humidity 90 degree day

Living in NYC, where humid heat is a fact of life during the summer, I have no choice but to say that I'd prefer dry heat. It has to be better than feeling like you're melting!
