Well, while I love Southwest and am alllllll about their fares / prices, there are a few key caveats:
1. The $69 is ONE-WAY.
Thus, while folks like myself (and likely yourself too trauch!) would LOVE to just do the one way (absolutely no need to return me back here to MKE in my mind), most of us have annoying obstacles to tend to like, oh, I don't know...jobs...houses (or apts)...cars...etc.! Thus, yeah, while it is a great one-way fare, most need round trip.
2. One CAN accomplish round trip for two of the $69s...total of $138. However, that is WITHOUT taxes, fees, etc., etc., etc. It ends up being about $184 or so total - (a round trip of $69 x 2 + fees = $184).
Still a great freaking fare. Especially considering we weren't that long ago in a stretch when a good fare between a mid-sized airport like the Sunport and a mid-sized port like MKE would've been more in the $300 range. So still great. Just not exactly $69.
3. Travel needs to be done on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, and is first-come, first-served on those fares. So I plugged in some random Tu, W, and Sa, in NOV, and ended up able to protract that $184 round-trip range, but that's how you have to do it.
So its great still, indeed. And its surely worth it for Albuquerque. But it isn't exactly just $69 either.
