Calgary...right now its skyline is about the same as Denver's , and the mountain backdrop behind them is about the same. Calgary has a lot more construction going on there, so its skyline will definitely surpass Denver's in the near future.
I'm impressed that this thread got so nasty for so long. People have their opinions. Denver is a great city with a great downtown and an impressive skyline. Pound for pound it packs as much punch as just about any other American city based on amenities, sports, etc...
I'm sure that Calgary is a great city as well, and has a fantastic natural setting. I've never been there, but I would figure it to be a great place.
I don't see why posters on this site can't disagree without respecting others' opinions.
Bottom line, Calgary is a skyscraper "star" within Canada. Denver, unfortunately, does not have the same status within the U.S. While Denver has become more dense and has added some moderate towers, Calgary has raced passed them. If it was 1985, I would say Denver, today it is Calgary.

This is akin to saying that Calgary is a big fish in a small pond. Nothing wrong with that, my point is that Denver has a lot more competition from American cities than Calgary has from Canadian cities. Denver still holds its own nicely, as it arguably in the top 15 skylines in the U.S.

Yeah, that's a good argument. But Calgary is a metro about two-thirds the size of Denver. So, I am impressed.
Those are some great pictures of Calgary.
If I still lived in Denver I'd make it a point, now that I have a quality camera, to capture some of the best pictures of Denver. Even though I'm not originally from there, I consider it home, and do plan on landing there again.
