i cant agree with that, one of the bloggers just posted over 100 crip gangs alone in l.a , l.a also has a huge amount of blood gangs, and spanish gangs , with all them gangs you would think l.a is the most dangerous city in america, but yet again its one of the safest cities

They are close overall, if it was just the bad areas with gangs not included NYC would most likely win. NYC *overall* is safe however its rough areas are what keeps its crime as high as it is and for every bad neighborhood in NYC there is at the least 15 to 20 good ones so the relatively small amount of rough neighborhoods is where the majority of the crime happens. It seems like LA gangs shoot more and fight less and NYC gangs fight more and shoot less. I think gangs are corny and played out. In my opinion Los Angeles is *overall* more dangerous because of that gang nonsense.

Are crimes reported differently in NYC (8 million), because the city must be extremely safe to compare to LA's crime rate (4 million).

LA is less than half the size, soi its important to recognize the crime rates. Anyway LA has nearly as many murders, rapes, robberies and its population is 3.8 million and the population of NYC is over 8 million.

Where do I find NYC murders? It takes more than you saying it to make it true. Please in NYC there are people from all walks of life walking through perfectly safe in nearly every neighborhood. In LA the people know who belongs so someone that isn't part of an area that is walking through is almost guaranteed trouble.

Gangs in NYC are nothing like they are in LA. The blood gangs here can't compare to the ones on the west coast. I agree that neither city is dangerous compared to much smaller ones, but NYC is extremely safe except in a few areas and even then safe compared to other cities.

I think what makes NYC seem more dangerous is the media and it's crime might be concentrated in certain areas (Brownsville, Bed-Steu, South Bronx, etc). Those hoods alone seem to give NYC a bad name.

I disagree. LA sucks because like you said the gang nonsense. What makes LA worse is that the city is so segregated, because everyone drives everywhere so when people are out on the street people are much more sus[icious of eachother. I know parts of NYC are bad, it's just different.

Now why is NYC considered safe? because its so dense. If I shoot a gun into in a NYC hood of 100,000 people and some one gets hit and dies the hoods murder rate is 1 per 100,000. Now if I go to a rural town of 1,000 and kill someone that towns rate is 100 per 100,000 so its clear that rural town is not more dangerous but it appears that way so No NYC is NOT one of the safest cities. Is it a war zone...no but overall in terms of safety it is a decent city"
