It has to be something like that. My father in law had a condo in Fla. and I spent a lot of time there at all times of the year. Summers are unbearable for me. I have spent a lot of time in PA at relatives and friends houses in summer. There's no way PA is hotter and or more humid than Fla.
By the way, I'm not bashing Fla. If you like it there fine. I'm only saying it as I've seen it and experienced it.

The reason why PA has so many more heat related deaths is that many apartments up there do not have adequate cooling as opposed to Florida that deals with the heat every year and almost all have AC.
Yup just did. My bad . I find it hard to believe though as Fla. is way hotter than PA .
I did not mean to seem snappy. There are just too many posters on here that post untruths based on their opinions yet seem to question those that back up thier posts with facts.

This is a very good point actually and can apply to many cities. I remember hearing how residents in San Francisco suffer from heat related deaths at a higher rate than much hotter inland areas b/c no one in the city has AC since it is not needed the vast majority of time. This is why major cities that are not used to extreme heat open cooling centers during major heat waves. Chicago back in the 90's is a great example of how heat can kill in cities not accustomed to it.

I saw a show about a heat wave on the weather channel. That is exactly what they said. Some people up north, including my grandparents, don't have AC as opposed to down south where its is far more standard. During a heat wave, these people make the mistake of leaving all their windows shut and turning fans on which turns their house into somewhat of a convection oven, and leads to people's deaths.
The FDV's numbers are approximations and also highly inaccurate.
Please post something to show they are highly inaccurate.
Just saying they are inaccurate because they don't fit with what you are trying to say is not how things work.
