That NY,NY hotel looks nothing like NY, I know...but the lights of the strip feel like one gigantic Times Square in a way. There's an excitement in Las Vegas that you feel here in NYC. Hard to explain.

Well Las Vegas is like an adult disney world, lol. It has this excitement to it that you can feel. I don't feel that excitement all the time in NY (that would be strange anyway), but when I come home, there's that intensity and excitement in the air that I feel all over again. Never felt that way in any other city, except for certain parts of Las Vegas at night.

In the limited time I've spent in these cities, San Fran reminded me a lot of NYC more than did Boston, Seattle, L.A., or D.C.

NYC is on whole different level. You would have to combine several of the cites to come close to NY. The closest combination would probably have the vibrancy and density of SF, the skyline and urban canyons of Chicago, the architecture of Philly and the temperment of Boston.

Boston seems the least like NY of the 4, but I guess I can see it for the culture. Its probably comes the closest to NY in attitude: snobby, nurotic and aggresive. Chicago's too midwestern, SF's too informal /laid back, and Philly is too working class.

I might also through in LA. Not so much for its urban feel, but rather for its celeb culture, melting pot feel and sheer size. I could also see throwing in Miami (nightlife, fashion) and DC (power) as well.

Exactly. I know a lot of Bostonians would be offended if you told them their city was a miniature New York.

Right, that's what I was thinking. If you combine ALL of those cities (flush LA's suburbaness and throw in Miami for nightlife) you would get NYC. NYC has about the same population as all those cities combined, more skyscrapers. NYC is truly in a class of its own.
