A city outside of Pittsburgh where its population has been decreasing since World War II. It's very similar to cities around the country that relied on its blue collar workers. Many of those jobs have moved out. Besides that, it seems nice and I heard there are a lot of beautiful trails near by.

Bangor, ME

Very pretty, green area. My wife speaks fondly of Bangor and visiting a friend she had who lived there in the 1970's.

A very clean, vibrant, growing southern city. The times I have spent in Charlotte, there is always something new. I like the city because it is not run down, dirty, or has boarded up uninhabited buildings like some other cities of comparable size. It could use some more personality, but still a nice place to be.

Cincinnati, OH

Old river city seeing a resurgence, beautiful architecture, deep German immigrant roots, impoverished in parts.

Shakeesha; Terrific assessment of Charlotte. I live in the Charlotte area and love it here. But one of the gripes I have is how they don't protect a lot of their historic buildings and such. They do have some very beautifully kept historic neighborhoods and such, but several historic buildings uptown we torn down to be replaced highrises and entertainment districts..........Anyway, Cincinnati always conjures up the Reds. Nice city on the Ohio River.

That is the same issue going on here in Nashville. New development has made way for the destruction of historic buildings which Nashville has a lot of. Most believe Nashville is just some sprawly city with cookie cutter everything, which is true to some degree, but there are several historic neighborhoods particularly around the core area. I agree that many of the warehouses and manufacturing type facilities need to go. They are out of place (PC Metals) and do nothing to foster a walkable, safe, urban environment. The same could be said for Chattanooga, which is also seeing an urban renaissance. Nashville has been late at finding solutions to historic preservation while also allowing positive growth. The two can coexist, but there has to be a balance.
