Wise choices, mon ami... For the record, if I were to move outside of the US, Paris would be my #1 choice.
Good choice too.I like also Miami but i think that's only good for vacation.NY could be a good idea but i don't like the long months of winter( like a Paris)
U.S. cities I want to live in at some point: San Francisco, San Diego, Miami, Washington DC, NYC ( I currently live in L.A. and Portland)
In the world: Beirut (at least in its prime when it was the "Paris of the middle east". Not sure what the situation is like over there now), Cape Town, Istanbul, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo.
I've never spent too much time in big cities. If I were to hazard a guess...
Anchorage as I like cold and would like to see the Northern Lights someday.
If by "city" we mean anything the census counts as a metropolitan area (the "definition" here tends to be limited to the top 100 largest cities) than I'd have more I've considered.
Spokane, Washington - Read about it as a kid. Sounds like it might be more moderate (meaning less ultra-liberal) than a good deal of the Pacific Northwest.
Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers Arkansas - It looks pretty and I have an attachment to Northwest Arkansas.
Topeka, Kansas - I hear bad things, but I liked the times I've been there.
Fargo, North Dakota - The movie, the cold, and I believe it's relatively safe.
Billings, Montana - Saw a documentary about it that made it seem appealing and the West has a certain appeal even if I'm not into Westerns.

I really didn't expect to see where I currently live anywhere on this thread.
The only parts of the Pacific NW that are "ultra-liberal" are Seattle and Portland, most of the rest of it (E WA, E OR, ID) is either moderate or conservative.

Remember, politics aren't everything.
Oh I'm not always that political and I certainly wasn't as a kid. (By ultra-liberal I largely mean I wouldn't want to be in a town where being Anti-Choice or voting for McCain makes you a pariah. There are "ultra-conservative" places I wouldn't want to live in either) What I read as a boy Spokane sounded like it had some nice amusements and was located near some natural beauty.
Back home to NY, but if I couldn't, it would be someplace in New England, like Burlington or Portland.
