Which is more urban Baltimore or Seattle? (better, compare, bigger)

Which feels more like an urban, big city?

These seem hard to compare since they are urban in different ways.

Seattle
has a big vibrant core (almost rivaling Bos, SF, etc) but isn't very urban in the residential areas.

Baltimore
has dense res. areas (almost rivaling Bos, SF, etc). But, downtown is relatively small and doesn't feel as lively.

Bmore is denser, but Seattle is growing faster.

That's tough. I was born and raised in Seattle, and have visited Baltimore. I would agree, for dense, urban neighborhoods, Baltimore wins hands down. The architecture of Baltimore's residential areas is impressive, even in the less affluent neighborhoods. The historic buildings in downtown BAL also seem to be better preserved and more prevelant. On the Seattle side, there seems to be more vibrancy, more of a look to the future. Probably just the difference in age of the cities, and the difference in geography. But, with both cities being of similar size, not a bad city vs. city comparison.

This one was tough and Seattle got to me with its skyline. Baltimore is denser but it just didnt click to me. Seattle is growing and is a major city. My vote is Seattle.

Baltimore has an ugly small downtown skyline and less to offer in general but I'll have to agree that the average person leads a more urban life than Seattle. Seattle is the downtown then typical residential area type of town. I would rather live a suburban life in Seattle than an urban life in Baltimore but I have to stick to the topic so I vote Baltimore.

I'd say Baltimore is a bit more urban. It has the old East Coast style to it which isn't shown in other parts of the country with the exception of San Francisco. Seattle is beautiful and is overall in much better shape than Baltimore.

They're almost exact opposites of one another. Baltimore is older and dirtier. There are many industrial areas and lots of deserted, vacant areas to the city, etc.

Seattle is new and shiny. The downtown is beautiful and clean. With the mountains the background of both Seattle and Bellevue, I always get the impression that everything in Seattle is fresh, clean, and smells like pine needles haha.

This is not even a contest! Baltimore all day long. Show me something in Seattle that can touch Fells Point or Federal Hill or Canton. Baltimore is an east coast rowhouse city. Miles upon miles of rows. How is Seattle more urban than that?

I think city vs city...Seattle wins hands down, but when you look at where Baltimore is located, then B-More may have an advantage. Seattle seems bigger, more fast paced, and it has more things to do downtown vs. Baltimore.
