We are a mature gay couple (50) and my partner has job offers in NY and Los Angeles. Since I'm a writer, I can really go to either place. Granted the two locations are vastly different, but jobs being relatively equal, wonder about suggestions for quality of life, etc.

What sort of people are you? Do you like having more space to stretch out or do you like smaller spaces? Do you like driving or do you prefer walking? Do you like varied seasons with cold winters and humid summers or do you prefer temperate weather year round? Etc. LA and NYC are very different cities and what city is better for you really depends on how you want to live.

LA is almost always better than NY. Better weather, nicer people, more space, more variety - in terms of neighborhoods you can live in and activities you can do (which is tied in with better weather). You'll also get more for your money here in LA.

I live in west hollywood and honestly one thing to consider is LA is SOOOO not the city to grow old in. It is a city worshiping at the altar of youth and beauty. The majority of men i see about town in WeHo are young and super fit. Im personally moving back to the east coast as soon as i can (im 45), as Im feeling more and more out of place here. The quality of life in terms of what you get for your money is better in LA but I would take NYC in a heartbeat if I could afford to live there

Are gay couples different than other couples? It would seem so since you make being gay a distinction.

The quality of life in either city can be good or bad depending on what you make of it and you expectations. Being large cities, each offers a variety of attractions for almost any kind of lifestyles or cultures.

Maybe you could just go to the gym.

But seriously, that is just way over the top. LA exists beyond WeHo.

Half of my neighbors(in the hills, near the "Bird Streets") are older gay couples. Not sure what area of WeHo you're in specifically but I don't see why the gay men about town being younger would deter a married gay couple looking to settle down.

Ok, wow...to the two previous posters. Im a damn WOMAN, and I GO to the gym. I also happen to live in WeHo and work in the movie business, ALL of LA worships at the altar of youth and beauty not just WeHo for gods sakes. I have alot of older gay male friends who are leaving LA. I was just sharing MY experiences and those of my gay older friends. Sheesh...way to be A@#holes you two.
