I think you've got a few of those mixed up. No way in the world San Diego and Houston will be bigger than Chicago anytime soon let alone in the next year.

I wont even start on the MSA list as you mixed in a few CSAs in there.

EDIT:

Ok, there is a slight chance you are being facetious

Ok, I might have been half-joking on some of them. I was going to put San Diego at #1 for city proper, but I know that's very unrealistic since no city will surpass NYC. But couldn't there be a possibility that CSA's might become MSA's? Particularly SoCal and the Bay Area.

Whatever happens, I just hope things stay positive for Boston, even if we slip out of the top ten MSA's.

San Diego will not grow much. Its boxed in by extreme desert and canyons to the East that cannot be developed and Camp Pendleton to the north

God damn sunbelt! Get off my lawn!
NYC and Philly have some density to them...every metro sprawls there's nothing to be done about that. The sprawl seen in Pheonix is just pathetic.

Umm, San Diego has almost 1.4 million and San Jose has 1 million. Heck no San Jose would pass San Diego. Not in a million years that would happen. San Diego and San Jose are both growing. San Diego and San Jose (I hope you agree) can pass Philly even its slight growth since it dropped for 60 years straight.2010 City Populations1. New York City, NY - 8,592,000 1. 8,817,000Seriously New York City has a lot of stuff to attract half a million people in 10 years. Just by looking at Time Square, we know NYC has a lot of pedestrians.2. Los Angeles, CA - 4,131,000 2. 4,579,000Disneyland, Knotts' Berry Farm, and Hollywood is not only attracting tourists AND residents alike just to live near it. Maybe with the illegal immigrants, LA COULD REACH 5 MILLION PEOPLE.3. Chicago, IL - 2,928,000 3. 3,022,000Chicago finally gains people after 5 years of straight declining, and its 4 decades before that. Hoo-ray for Chicago!!!4. Houston, TX - 2,340,000 4. 2,506,000Houston is gaining a lot. Like, I just noticed that people are really movin' to the Sunbelt cities. There they are from Las Vegas (600,000) to here in Houston, the states are really growing5. Phoenix - 1,621,000 5. 1,719,000I read here that City Data Guy said Phoenix was "the Spawl Capital of States and the World". Well, Phoenix is gaining big time really facts.6. Philadelphia - 1,453,000 9. 1,462,000OK, I get what you guys who know their Philly say the population of it was over 1,570,000 in 2009. Well, what about in 2007? And losing a rank for San Diego, San Antonio, and Dallastoo.7. San Antonio - 1,409,000 6. 1,529,000You think you can escape, Philly, eh? in 2017, San Antonio should be 6th.8. San Diego - 1,387,000 7. 1,506,000In 2017, San Diego should overtake Philly and reign 7th place. I live in San Diego (southern side) and with great climate, San Diego Zoo, and TJ, I bet San Diego will pass Philly.9. Dallas - 1,362,000 8. 1,463,000Whatever. Dallas passed SD in 2008, but San Diego made a challenge to 1,305,754, leaving Dallas at 1,279,910.10. San Jose - 1,039,000 10. 1,118,000San Jose broke 1,000,000 in 2009. the California Dep. of Finance is the best source for all California is the DOF. It was right for 4 censuses straight.
