exactly, there's only like 5 major cities on the west coast to choose from anyways, and thats only if you want to consider portland as a major city.

Well it depends on what you consider "major." There are 10 cities with 400,000 residents or more:

Los Angeles
San Diego
San Jose
San Francisco
Seattle
Portland
Fresno
Long Beach
Sacramento
Oakland
