Default Major ciites with low overall crime

Figure I would start a thread about the cities that are actually doing positive. Why does everyone focus on the negative things. You have people arguing about why their city is not on the a certain list which is pathetic. If you happen to be black it makes it even worse. These threads always annoy me for some reason. If you really live in that situation how can you possibly talk about negative things when you are around them everyday. Don't you need to escape sometimes, I do. For those who read this if your city happens to be doing good as far as crime, do share. I know there are some out there because their is a list for it. Or do people just enjoy talking about the obvious.

Nice idea, its good to escape the negative .

New York City "as a whole" has a low overall crime rate.

NYC is so densely populated you would have to judge how safe it is on a neighborhood by neighborhood basis.

I agree but based on those cheesy stats it is the safest big city "overall" .

It took a lot out of me to say NYC is safe lol.

Yeah Forest Hills is mad safe, if you would have went further south you would have been in Jamaica, Queens which isn't so safe especially Southside (where I'm at).

San Jose, Colorado Springs, Austin and Mesa round out the top 5 safest cities .

I live by JFK, there's places in Queens with mansions lol, every neighborhood is safe/okay except 4 neighborhoods (Southside Jamaica, Far Rockaway, Queensbridge and parts of Corona) other than those 4 hoods Queens is safe.

San Diego, El Paso, San Antonio, Denver & Wichita rank from 6th safest to 10th safest .

I'm not sure what you count as "major" and it might depend on what you mean with regard to crime.

New York City, San Jose, and Virginia Beach seem to be the lowest crime cities, but I'm doing the per-capita calculations as they're not included here.

Table 4 - Alabama through California

CQ Press seems to place the top three as Honolulu, New York, and El Paso. San Jose and Austin round out the top-5.
