Brooklyn Bridge resonates with New Yorkers and a select few Northeastern residents, the Golden Gate resonates with the world. An engineering marvel of the time, and an icon for the ages. The Brooklyn Bridge looks like an aging, deteriorating hulk in comparison.
That makes no sense. The bridges are probably equally famous, with a possible edge to the Brooklyn Bridge. Besides, I've never heard anyone say:
"If you believe that, I've got a bridge in San Francisco to sell you."
If you think the Brooklyn Bridge is ugly, then well, that's your opinion. But the BB is definitely more unique in terms of its design and its composition. It would be difficult finding sufficiently skilled masons and engineers to reconstruct the Brooklyn Bridge. I'm not so sure that the same could be said of the Golden Gate.
Love both. I actually can't stop staring at both when ever I'm in front of these two. However, I have to give the edge to the GG Bridge. It's much more massive, so the scale is that much more impressive. The mountains in the background is remarkable and so much more impressive. The fog that envelops the bridge from time to time is truly beautiful and makes for a truly unique image. The colors (not to mention contrast) are pretty neat and recognized around the world as well.
I will concede that the Brooklyn Bridge may be harder to build and recreate if it needed to be. But the GGB is considered one of the 7 modern wonders of the world by the American Society of Civil Engineers, so how are we can do this all day: Wonders of the World - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Again, I love both. And I'd probably give it to Brooklyn if the GGB was never made. But the GGB is truly a stunning masterpiece.
I can respect someone's opinion that the GG is more beautiful than the BB. But these comments that the Verrazano-Narrows and the George Washington are more beautiful than the Brooklyn Bridge are ridiculous.

I love the Brooklyn Bridge and appreciate it's history, but no bridge is more iconic than the Golden Gate.
