It also gets constanly blown to pieces in films and seem to magically be the only exit out of manhattan in every apocalyptic movie. Anyway back on topic I gotta go with the Golden Gate cause it is in California and it's also one of the many icons of the west. Brooklyn Bridge has a lot of character though.

Because it's the most famous bridge there is in the US. The most famous landmarks in the world are always blown up in movies because everyone knows them.

Debatable.

Plenty of movies in the past and recent involving destruction of the GGB (Superman, X-Men, Monsters Vs. Aliens, James Bond, The Incredible Hulk, GI Joe)

The Brooklyn bridge is a very impressive bridge, though older.
But the Golden Gate is way more impressive, bigger, and popular

Well, because the GGB and BB are the two most well-known; so they're going to be blown up in movies.

I love them both...but the Brooklyn Bridge has that permanent quality about it; because of it's cathedral like towers, made of stone. This was the first time new steel cables from Roebling, made the span length possible.

The extra steel cables, including the angled cables(like a modern cable stayed bridge) make it more attractive and give it additional strength; enough to handle much more than the horse and buggy and pedestrian traffic it was designed for.

Both bridges are American icons; but with the additional history(older) of the Brooklyn Bridge...it gets my vote; bigger isn't always better...well at least with bridges...LOL

I wouldn't call that bridge the best.

My all time favorite bridge is the Bear Mountain Bridge in upstate NY.

(You really have to be on it to capture the beauty of it)

My Favorite Bridge in NYC is the George Washington Bridge hands down.

But it still doesn't beat the Golden Gate...

And here's the Brooklyn Bridge to Compare

driving over the golden gate after the tunnel into sf, the effect u get of being on such a monstrous gorgeous bridge has been in my mind way more impressive than the brooklyn bridge and i have been over both many times.

The GG in X-men getting destroyed by magneto was a awesome scene.
