And what does it prove other than people from your circle don't use it?
I just showed you a link to a legitimate Chicago business that uses Chi-town in its name. Obviously it means that the term is pretty popular. Google for Chi-town and you will see a few thousands more references.

I am in Chicago right now, kid I have to visit your city quite frequently..

Yes, I am old enough to remember NYC before Gullianin and despite all the romanticizing done by folks who did not live in the city at that time, it was not a happy place.
Have you ever had to carry $10 bill in your pocket just in case some crackhead sticks you up and you do not really want to dissapoint him by having no money?
You have no idea what you are talking about. Gulliani will have monuments all over the city in 20 years.

I would kill for Oakland to be as can-do as Chicago.

Yeah thats what I thought, I always heard dudes from Chicago call their city the 'Go, even heard Chi-City a few times. But I never heard someone from Chicago call Chicago Chi-Town. Its kind of like in Atlanta, only people from outside Atlanta call it ATL, we just call it "the city" or the "A".
Usually when someone says ATL, its a dead give away that they are either from out of town, or a suburban dude trying to act hip
