Then you need to either figure out how to read or what replying to someone's post entails. What do you think I meant by "iconic in a way and to a degree that nothing within Central Park is"?

BigCity guy, NYC has some great museums but we are talking about the Smithsonian here. These are museums that are on the NM. Not 2 and 3 blocks away. You don't want me to add the other 40 museums that are in walking distance to the NM. The Holocaust Museum is one block from the NM but not on this list. The front of the White House faces the NM!

1. Washington Monument
2. National Museum of American History
3. National Museum of Natural History
4. National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden
5. West Building of the National Gallery of Art
6. East Building of the National Gallery of Art

7. United States Capitol
8. Ulysses S. Grant Memorial
9. United States Botanic Garden
10. National Museum of the American Indian
11. National Air and Space Museum
12. Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden

13. Arts and Industries Building
14. Smithsonian Institution Building
15. Freer Gallery of Art
16. Arthur M. Sackler Gallery
17. National Museum of African Art

I never stated any Museum that was 1-2 blocks away did I? No Do You want to post a list of how many times NYC has been in movies and tv shows and commercials more than DC. Overall CP is better park. There is more to this argument than just museums.

Close one, but I vote the National Mall, especially if we get to include West Potomac Park. I think it is closer to what you would find in Paris. The combination of park space and architecture and the embracing of the river is simply AWESOME. I would only vote CP if we don't get to include West Potomac Park and that embrace of the river.
