It reminds of Panama City, Sao Paolo and Seoul. All of which have ugly skylines, IMO.
noland is right...you are either oblivious to Miami's beautiful and unique skyline or simply have an ax to grind (how unique in this forum). Thanks to the world-famous firm Arquitectonica and its' principals Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, Miami and specifically Brickell Avenue boasts some of the more unique and breathtaking buildings in the world.
Arquitectonica is an awesome firm. They've definitely produced some great buildings...that said, I prefer Philadelphia's skyline to Miami's and it's not even close.
I think Miami's skyline is pretty cool, but I just prefer Philadelphia's ultra-dense central core. The Comcast Tower is the best skyscraper in either city, and the architecture of One/Two Liberty Place and Mellon Bank Tower are second to none.
As much as I love the architecture of Miami,I love the beauty of Miami's Royal and Coconut Palms and other beautiful trees such as Banyan which are not found in the Continental United States.
Miami had the greatest building boom in the country in 2007 and second to Dubai in the world. It is known as the "Capital of the Americas" and the "Gateway to Latin America". It is number 2 iin International Banking next to New York. It is also known the "Cruise Ship" capital of the world.http://maps.google.com/maps?q=&ie=UT...19.64,,0,-5.94

I'm just not a big fan of skylines dominated by residential buildings, so Philly easily wins this for me. But Miami's skyline has come a long way in a relatively short period of time. Probably the closest thing we have to Dubai here in the States.

And Miami's Downtown Core isn't dense?!! You do realize ofcourse that with over 11,000 per square mile Miami is actually more dense than Philadelphia. And both Miami and Miami Beach have dense skylines squeezed up against the Beach and Harbor. Man!! I'm begining to think someone is going to have to post a picture of a Downtown with all the buildings glued together into one big clump before you Philly fans will even give it any credit for being dense at all. I mean Come On!!
Face it. Any major East Coast skyline automatically gets the vote of most East Coast dwellers without them even paying attention to the skyline from outside the East.

Miami's land area is a fraction of Philadelphia's, you draw 36 square miles around Center City Philadelphia, I'm sure Philly will come out much more than 11,000 ppsm lol.
Funny enough, Miami is claimed to be the 3rd largest skyline in the US, while Philly has the 3rd largest downtown residential population (100,000 approaching). It's safe to assume that Philly has a more dense core than Miami.
