I wouldn't take the list too seriously. I think the list has to do with ratio of bars, clubs and restaurants to the city or something like that. For me, San Francisco, Boston along with about 3 or four other cities' night life that didn't make the list would be above Atlanta, but that's just me. Atlanta's night life really does have an appeal to a lot of people though.
That's the thing, all three of those city's are nightlife mecca's for different types of people. It's just hilarious to me that Atlanta being ranked above Boston or San Francisco on some arbitrary list is cause for cries of heresy.

It doesnt take density or walkability into account. San Francisco and Boston are tiny area wise compared to Atlanta or LA, and I find the former cities way more entertaining because everything is right there and much more accesible.
Atlanta isn't that much larger than Boston or San Francisco area wise, and most of it's clubs are clustered in districts (as well as museums, theaters, and tourist attractions). But why is it important to be able to walk after partying? In my book, if you can still walk straight after a night out on the town then you didn't have a good time.

Seriously people, it's just a list.
whats funny is that noone is making a comment about any other city besides the misplacement of Atlanta on that list, most seem to somewhat agree with the list except for placement, and of course you had to comment on it just being a list
has nothing to do with people commenting on your Atlanta

So I guess it's better to have a bunch of drunk people who didn't have a great time driving on the streets while intoxicated

Wait till you see a thread with a list with Houston above San Francisco and Boston in culture due to our Museums, Theater District, etc. I've seen that before.
I'm not sure why people get touchy about list that are very subjective anyway. And besides, maybe some of the emerging cities have something to offer that most people aren't aware of because their "the new kids on the block," so to speak.

lol, if you want to go off of that theory, the new kids on the block who are pretty/handsome, smart, charming, etc usually fit in with the crowd right away.
Portland and Austin are good examples of "new kids on the block", people generally seem to favor these two no matter where they are from, these cities have a "cool/niche" factor to them. I personally don't think much of Austin but alot of people seem to like it there very much.
