Why is this even a thread? Seattle has a great skyline, but it can't compete with a town that also has a great skyline and is almost twice as large. Toronto is the size of Houston and Miami and those would be better threads.
I can see why Seattle is doing well... It obviously isn't as dense or tall as Toronto's (nor growing at the same rate so Toronto will distance itself considerably as the years go by with even more density and height), but Seattle has a pretty dense and nicely balanced skyline. Add to that the beauty of the surrounding scenery as a backdrop and while I agree Toronto is just too much for it, I can see why Seattle is garnering the votes it is. It is really about preference.
tornto does have more buildings but seattle is more balenced if you know what i mean.
Two buildings U/C in Toronto being built north of the CBD will do a lot to balance out the skyline (Aura which is almost topped out at 272m and One Bloor East 257m will be finished in December) when looking at it from east or west.
Aesthetics, balance, preference and mountains aside - the following links provide a good breakdown on the list of tallest buildings in each city by height that are completed, under construction, approved and proposed. For Toronto buildings under 140m aren't counted in the link there are too many of them.
i still am sticking with seattle. toronto no offense seems a little overrated.
I'm not trying to convert you and I don't care that you prefer Seattle lol - you prefer Seattle to pretty much any competition so why would I care to try?.. You said Toronto doesn't have a balanced skyline and there are a few projects going up that are going to do a lot to balance it out and is changing it. A skyline isn't a snapshot it time - it evolves and changes over time and few skylines in the world are changing like Toronto's. Liking a skyline or not is a matter of preference... Number of buildings, height of buildings and density however are more fact based details and typically the skyline that is denser, higher and simply has more going on will win for most people.
