As an outsider I would say the 10 most recognisable city landmarks are (in no particular order):
Statue of Liberty
The White House (surprise no one has said this!)
Twin Towers
Golden Gate Bridge
Times Square
The Pentagon
Hollywood sign
Empire State Building
Las Vegas Strip
Washington Monument
Unfortunately most of these are from watching films or The Simpsons!
I agree with this. A lot of people don't seem to realize how identifiable DC landmarks are outside the U.S.
