Not to worry...there are worse things than not being considered 'liberal' these days.
If you cut off the upper half of FL and toss it, then you have a fairly liberal state.

They also refuse to conform (with the rest of the country, outside ofthe South) which is reminiscent of the Hippie movement. Residents of the state also recognize the impact of global warming and refuse to build large cities so the state has much less pollution than heavily-polluting conservative states such as New York and California. This long history of bucking the establishment is also evident prior to the Civil War, when they were the second state to join the Confederacy. The most powerful political figures in the state are Democrats, such as the mayor of Greenville, MI who is also a minority and a woman. Only the less powerful politicians such as governor are Republicans.

He obviously was. Traumatised by the fact thet he lives in a state that, while eminently Mid-Atlantic, is nominally Southern, he doesn't miss a chance to re-inforce his Northerness by having a dig at the South, whether it's relevant to the topic or not.

Staten Island is pretty conservative and always votes Republican, in contrast to the other boroughs of NYC.

Your statement is true. Juliani isn't nearly as conservative as the average Southern Republican.
