Miami is an Aw climate or a Tropical Savana or Am climate a tropical monson climate. It really depends where in South East Florida you are. But since Miami does average more than 35in of rainfall a year and never has no months which the temp falls below 16c. It is a true tropical climate not subtropical. The summers wet season is what makes it really tropical since the ITCZ does move North in the Northern Hemisphere's summer. South Florida is the only area on the continental US to have a true tropical climate. One of the great aspects of living in Miami IMO.

I dont see how NYC weather is better unless you need 4 seasons. Miami has perfect winters and their summers are not that much different. Sure the average temps in Miami are higher but NYC on its hot days will be worse than Miami. And Miami always has a chance to cool down every summer afternoons with their thunderstorms. I like the storms and rain many people might not. But I would rather take a little bit of a warmer summer and spring than cold winters with snow and ice.

For the non Miami tropical climate believers take a look at this map. Look at Southeast Florida Coast line. It consist of Aw and Am climates A stands for tropical

Funny how my snowbird relatives coming down the past couple of weeks were saying the weather in late October (except for the way too short 2 day 'cold' front) is hotter than just about every day they had in NYC this past summer..

The average low in recent weeks hovering just under 80 is a good 10 degrees higher than NYC in the middle of summer.. And those 'cooling' summer thunderstorms temporarily take it under 80. My experience in recent years is it is usually in the high 80's with very high humidity at sunrise and when the 11pm news comes on a good five months.. Now don't get me wrong the coastal climate right on the beach is incredible most of the year. Just when you get inland even a few blocks without the direct breeze and it starts changing. Get out to those concrete paved burbs further west and it is real bad..

I can appreciate your choice of perfect weather but I must ask.

You took the time to register.
You then searched through the threads.
And then posted your one post in a thread that was asking for a preference between NYC and Miami weather when you like neither?

I mean, there was a thread on LA vs NYC weather as well as a Cali vs NJ thread both on the front page of city vs city forum.

Just curious is all. Somethimes I think too much.

South Florida is NOW experiencing RECORD BREAKING HEAT (90s in October). There is a cold front coming to North Florida which will not make it here.

So I don't want to hear from anybody in NORTH Florida saying how "nice" it is now.

Nice is SUBJECTIVE. People might actually HATE cold fronts. I know some people up here in NC do.

Being the majority of the population of the world live in a climate that has an average annual temperature of over 75 degrees it is very possible that to many those temperatures would be too cold and they may even hate it.
